Birth of a Beautiful Idea
Monumental Beginnings Doula Services
Krista spent two years teaching 4th grade in an inner city school in Boston after studying Early Childhood Education and Women's Studies at Keene State College. Collaborating with some of the most innovative educators in the city, she gained experience for working with at-risk children of immigrant families.
Teaching was incredibly rewarding, but with the increasing focus of public schools on academics above the holistic child in a family unit, education did not feel like the right fit for Krista.
She moved to a place that has always felt like home, Falmouth, Mass and began establishing herself as a partner for new families, while maintaining great working relationships with families and professionals throughout the South Shore and Greater Boston.
With many years as a trusted caregiver and advocate for families through in-home care and community support, Krista rolled up her sleeves and took a leap of faith to pursue the beauty of birth work! Partnering with families for the best interest of them as a whole, is a natural gift of this nurturing and ambitious young woman.
Krista's natural inclinations to protect and support families comes as a result of watching her own mother, Joanne Sullivan. Joanne was a model educator with a kind soul, and a person who brought peace and a sense of confidence to all parents she met. Joanne worked for decades as a preschool teacher for children with special needs in Keene, New Hampshire. Joanne cared deeply for, and honored all families as individual sacred family units, beyond the walls of any classroom. Joanne's legacy of unconditionally honoring families, remains at the forefront of how Krista operates in the world and serves as a compass in this new adventure.
Monumental Beginnings is a tribute to Joanne and intended to serve as a light that continues to shine for new, Monumental Beginnings.
